Club General Manager - Leadership & Growth
Blue Moon Fitness has been serving the Omaha area for over 37 years, focusing on serving first-time exercisers, women, people returning to fitness, those using GLP-1 medications, and everyday individuals who want to feel better, move better, and stay independent. We aim to create a friendly, non-intimidating environment—what we call the "Adult Table" of fitness—where leadership and ownership drive the member experience.
About the Role
We're looking for a General Manager who understands leadership goes beyond schedules and emails. The role requires taking ownership to ensure the club is clean, welcoming, and a place where members and employees feel valued. You’ll lead in a way that sustains business growth and fosters a culture of service, particularly for those new to fitness or returning after a break. Leadership here means noticing what’s happening—whether it’s energy levels, staff interactions, or member retention—and taking action to improve it. We need someone who acts like a thermostat, not just a thermometer: someone who doesn’t just observe but changes the environment for the better.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including people management, member experiences, staffing, facility standards, communication, and financial performance.
- Monitor key metrics such as membership, leads, tours, joins, cancellations, revenue, personal training, payroll, and retention—while recognizing each number represents a person.
- Understand the difference between activity and results (e.g., interviewing vs. building a dependable staff, talking to staff vs. changing behavior).
- Develop and mentor Assistant Managers, who will share real responsibility for the floor, member success, sales, follow-up, and daily execution.
- Build a feedback loop with your team to learn from mistakes, improve decisions, and reduce repeated errors.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement among staff.
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness, member service, and club atmosphere, ensuring the environment remains welcoming and non-intimidating.
- Uphold "Rules Before Rates": membership does not grant permission to degrade the experience for others, and the customer is not always right—but they should always be served with respect.
Requirements
- Integrity, intelligence, and energy—qualities we prioritize in leadership.
- Natural inclination toward ownership, proactive communication, and problem-solving.
- Ability to develop people, have uncomfortable conversations, and accept coaching.
- Sound decision-making without relying on rigid rules for every situation.
- Willingness to ask for help, own mistakes early, and hold others accountable respectfully.
- Resolve: the ability to make tough decisions even when they’re unpopular or inconvenient.
- Commitment to treating every member with kindness and respect, as if they were a loved one.
Benefits
- Uncapped revenue share.
- Free gym membership.
- Performance-based bonuses.
- Opportunities for advancement.
- Training and development programs.
- Competitive salary.
- Employee discounts.
- Paid time off.
- Profit sharing.
Pay
$17.00 per hour plus a percentage of revenue generated by two clubs. This structure is designed to reward leadership that drives value and growth, aligning your earnings with the success of the clubs you oversee.
Schedule
Full-time position.
