Responsibilities

  • Develop services and deploy infrastructure in AWS using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Implement serverless patterns and event-driven designs (e.g., Step Functions, EventBridge)
  • Operate production services with high availability and observability
  • Design and implement microservices delivering self-contained business functionality within a SaaS product
  • Collaborate in multi-team, collaborative software development environments
  • Work with Agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Ensure security and user data protection throughout the software development lifecycle

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master's or equivalent experience a plus)
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a software developer
  • Strong proficiency in Python, object-oriented programming, software design principles, and design patterns
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Good understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Solid experience with AWS services such as:
    • EC2, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, Lambda, CloudFront, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EKS
  • Experience with:
    • Serverless patterns and event-driven designs (e.g., Step Functions, EventBridge)
    • Operating production services with high availability and observability (metrics, logs, traces)
    • Multiteam, collaborative software development (source control, collaborative design and code reviews)
    • Designing and implementing microservices delivering self-contained business functionality within a SaaS product

Qualifications

  • Experience with:
    • AWS Associate or Professional certification
    • Operating a 24x7, global, highly available, secure SaaS environment
    • Experience with Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform and managed Kubernetes (AKS/GKE)
    • Background or interest in large-scale numerical simulation / HPC workloads
    • Experience with job scheduling systems such as PBS, Slurm, LSF, or Grid Engine
    • Hands-on experience with multi-model NoSQL databases such as ArangoDB or equivalent technologies

Pay

The pay range for this position is $109,800 - $197,700 annually with a target incentive of 5-8% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
