About the role
Protiviti is looking for a Technology Consulting Associate Director to join our growing Infrastructure, Cloud, & Security Engineering team. As an Associate Director, you'll take a lead role in strengthening our relationships with clients and providing seamless guidance in the completion of engagements. You'll partner with our strategic clients to advise on and implement technical solutions to their most pressing challenges. Additionally, you’ll help identify new businesses and build lasting relationships with clients and within the community as you serve as an ambassador of Protiviti in the market. You will also be a mentor and provide growth and development to teams as you oversee the successful completion of project work plans.
Responsibilities
- Work across infrastructure, networking, and cloud platforms to design, build, migrate, and/or secure systems and environments.
- Build trusted relationships with C-level executives and provide exceptional experiences that translate to additional project work.
- Promote a positive team culture that fosters open communication among all engagement team members.
- Create development opportunities for others, including participating in the creation and rollout of training.
- Discover prospective project work with current and potential clients through networking, knowledge-building, and client interactions.
- Identify opportunities to integrate product solutions and resources to improve client service capabilities.
- Translate client challenges into opportunities to add value and new project proposals.
- Contribute to thought leadership and encourage knowledge-sharing and collaboration across teams.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of clients across industries.
- Establish and cultivate business relationships and a professional network, including with senior executives.
- Pursue business development opportunities and implement strategies to obtain new work or clientele.
- Translate and communicate issues, risks, or challenges to client personnel, including executives.
- Provide leadership and direct supervisory experience of teams, including conducting performance appraisals, mentoring, and coaching.
Requirements
- Recent hands-on design, deployment, and/or administration experience in Windows Server and Linux systems administration.
- Working familiarity with Unix variants and Mac OS; prior administration experience a plus.
- Working familiarity with Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and other IaaS providers preferred.
- Strong enterprise networking design, deployment, and/or administration experience.
- Working familiarity with enterprise-class vendors and product lines strongly preferred (e.g., Cisco, Cisco Meraki, HPE/Aruba, Juniper, Extreme, Brocade).
- Working familiarity with enterprise-class network security appliance vendors and product lines strongly preferred (e.g., Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Working familiarity with SMB/”prosumer” vendors and product lines a plus (e.g., Ubiquiti/UBNT, SonicWall, Mikrotik).
- Working familiarity with load balancers, VPN appliances/concentrators a plus.
- In-depth understanding of current enterprise design patterns and norms for basic networking capabilities/concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN segmentation, routing and switching, wireless).
- Strong familiarity with SMB and entry-level on-premises computing infrastructure technologies.
- Working familiarity with multiple server hardware vendors and associated management tools/platforms (e.g., Dell, HPE, Cisco, SuperMicro) strongly preferred.
- Working familiarity with hypervisor platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, or others) strongly preferred.
- Strong familiarity with enterprise storage, DAS, SAN, and NAS/filer solutions.
- Working understanding of contemporary network storage protocols and interconnect methods (e.g., iSCSI, CIFS, FibreChannel, NFS).
- Strong familiarity with basic on-premises infrastructure management best practices (rack management, power and cooling demand management, physical security).
- Strong familiarity with scripting for administrative, auditing, and other operational purposes.
- Prior experience writing PowerShell, Python, BASH/other Linux shell scripts strongly preferred.
- Prior experience with typical infrastructure and server/endpoint management toolsets (performance and capacity management tools, endpoint management/RMM platforms, patch and vulnerability management tools, log and event aggregation technologies like Kafka, SIEMs, Splunk, etc.).
- Prior experience with capacity planning, VM/server “right-sizing”, performance analysis.
- Prior experience and ownership designing server, network, application solutions through deployment phase.
- Prior experience administrating Office 365 services; Microsoft Exchange, Google G Suite/Workspace is a plus.
- Experience designing, building, or remediating an environment to meet specific regulatory requirements such as PCI-DSS, CMMC, NIST 800-53.
- Prior experience translating undocumented systems/applications/operating procedures into usable documentation; ability to update or create visualizations of dependency maps or architecture overviews is a must.
- Prior experience with integration of IT systems in a post-merger/acquisition environment.
- Prior experience with application rationalization/dependency mapping exercises.
- Prior experience designing, implementing, or administrating backup and replication/continuity solutions for server, storage, and application infrastructure.
- Familiarity with typical project management methods (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
- Prior experience translating business requirements (e.g., compliance controls, vendor/business partner requirements) into technical configurations/solutions.
- Prior experience dealing with third-party hardware/software/service vendors preferred.
- Prior experience translating business continuity/disaster recovery requirements into technical solution designs preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Networking, or relevant field, or equivalent experience delivering technology or consulting solutions.
- 9+ years working in professional services or related fields such as managed services or in a “hands-on” pre-sales role.
- Professional Certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert, or similar strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written English.
- Comfortable collaborating with key business executives, system/application owners, or stakeholders in group conversation or direct interview contexts.
- Ability to rapidly shift between planning/design work and practical execution (“hands-on keyboard” tasks for discovery or implementation) is an absolute necessity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Personal projects/demonstrated extracurricular interest in technology a plus.
Schedule
Protiviti practices a hybrid model, which is a combination of working in person with a purpose and working remotely. This model creates meaningful experiences for our people and our clients while offering a flexible environment. The ratio of remote to in-person requirements varies by client, project, team, and other business factors. Our people work both in-person in local Protiviti offices and on client sites, which can include local or out-of-state travel based on our projects and client requests and commitments.
Pay
Starting salary is based on a full-time equivalent schedule. Placement in the range is dependent upon experience, skills, and geographic work location.
- Base salary range: $153,000.00 - $260,000.00
- Annual bonus target opportunity: 16%
- Estimated total cash range: $177,480.00 - $301,600.00
