Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Hands-on Cloud Engineer, to lead the resolution of complex cloud infrastructure issues, serving as an escalation point for senior and mid-level engineers.
- Enhance the automation and scripting efforts of the cloud team to identify and automate as much routine deployment, configuration, and other operational work as necessary.
- Create and maintain design and architectural artifacts.
- Ensure uniform architecture and design standards are maintained.
- Monitor and facilitate a secure cloud environment that follows the best practices around least privileged and zero trust.
- Ensure all cloud environments have the proper security and access controls in place to guarantee a trusted and secure environment.
- Address vulnerability concerns whenever possible.
- Manage access control, data integrity and file system security for the cloud data center environment following RBAC model and principals of least privilege and zero trust security.
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability of systems.
- Monitor cloud costs across all environments and deploy best practices around FinOps to strive towards cost optimization and accurate cost visibility.
- Develop and enforce best practices architecture, deployment, monitoring, and security to ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability of systems.
- Manage, track and record system performance and utilization metrics.
- Manage the communication behind highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
- Promote strong collaboration with business development teams, Including data engineering, IT Teams and Security to align cloud solutions with business goals.
- Conduct research/POC on relevant emerging technologies in support of solution development efforts and make recommendations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, workflows, and operational procedures.
- Mentor and guide junior and senior engineers, fostering technical growth and promoting knowledge sharing within the team.
- Ensure compliance with operational SLAs, security standards, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the design and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud environments.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in cloud engineering or related roles, with at least 2-3 years in advanced cloud-native development or architecture.
Key Skills And Competencies
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services, including compute, storage, networking, and monitoring.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, PowerShell).
- Advanced understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated experience in designing scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures.
- Solid understanding of cloud security principles, including IAM, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex technical challenges.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Industry-recognized certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect) are highly desirable.
