About the Role

UPMC is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join the Corporate Technology Services Team. This fully remote position focuses on Cloud Strategy, including Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, and Governance. The team prioritizes Innovation, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement on a 360 platform.

Under general management direction, this role requires technical expertise in cloud, security, network, and systems design to drive development, DevOps, implementation, and automation across various domains and projects. The Senior Cloud Engineer will define project plans, implement and maintain Cloud environments, and provide services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.

Responsibilities

Maintain systems, participate in projects, provide end-user and application support, and contribute to team documentation and process improvement.
Plan and execute technical design, delivery, and architecture for major new platforms and products.
Analyze customer needs and create technical designs and documentation as needed.
Document Cloud policies and procedures.
Perform research and analysis for project proposals, system modifications, and new products.
Review Cloud toolsets regularly for efficiency, cost, and performance.
Conduct research on cloud environment issues and propose technical solutions for user requests.
Own the overall system design, security, scalability, reliability, and performance of Cloud projects.
Implement tools and processes to maximize efficiency and automation.
Oversee and develop team members through mentoring, coaching, and best practice collaboration.
Respond to production issues as needed 24x7x365.

Requirements

3+ years of experience with Azure (IaaS, PaaS, & SaaS) and 5+ years of overall IT experience in mid to complex-sized organizations or equivalent educational qualifications.
Microsoft Azure Administrator and/or AWS certification preferred.
Multi-cloud experience preferred.
Sound understanding of SQL, Web, Networking, and Security best practices.
Security mindset with an understanding of HIPAA and Data Privacy.
Working knowledge of DevOps, application, and data integration.
Understanding of Container services.
Ability to script using PowerShell.
Ability to develop complex Azure Resource Manager Templates.
Ability to multi-task, manage projects, and maintain a production support mentality.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
