About the role
HireArt is assisting an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company in recruiting a Cloud Engineer to oversee and enhance their AWS cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the company's AWS platform by provisioning cloud resources, automating infrastructure, troubleshooting production issues, and maintaining cloud security and governance.
- Leverage Infrastructure as Code, collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, and ensure the AWS environment remains efficient, secure, and highly available.
- Provision and manage AWS accounts and tenant structures, including IAM users and roles, cross-account access, and AWS IAM Identity Center (SSO) group configuration.
- Develop, maintain, and apply Terraform modules to provision infrastructure, including networking, IAM, AWS accounts, and cloud resources.
- Build and configure AWS networking components, such as VPCs, subnets, routing tables, and VPC peering, following established architectural designs.
- Support secrets management using AWS Secrets Manager, HashiCorp Vault, and integrations with third-party platforms.
- Implement cloud security and governance best practices, including least-privilege IAM policies, encryption, and compliance controls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve AWS infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and networking services for engineering, data platform, manufacturing, and mission-critical systems.
- Maintain and improve operational runbooks, documentation, and provisioning playbooks.
- Execute well-defined operational tasks independently while escalating architectural or complex issues when appropriate.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience supporting cloud infrastructure in a production environment
- Hands-on experience with AWS services, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably Terraform, including developing and modifying reusable modules
- Strong understanding of AWS networking fundamentals, including VPCs, subnets, routing, and security groups
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including IAM, encryption, and secrets management
- Experience working from tickets, runbooks, and documented operational procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
- Ability to manage well-defined tasks independently while recognizing when to escalate issues
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Terraform Cloud, Spacelift, or similar Infrastructure as Code platforms
- Experience supporting multi-account AWS environments using Landing Zones, AWS Control Tower, or similar frameworks
- Experience with containerized workloads using Kubernetes or Amazon EKS
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring and observability tools, including Grafana and Amazon CloudWatch
- Experience supporting AI/ML, high-performance computing (HPC), or other large-scale cloud workloads
