About the role
The Lead Cloud and Data Security Engineer designs, implements, and manages security architecture for cloud and enterprise environments. This role involves planning, building, and operational activities to safeguard digital assets, supporting the overall security strategy in collaboration with the CISO organization. The engineer leads a team in designing security solutions, configuring controls, and managing complex security projects, while also responding to incidents and conducting root cause analysis. The position is remote within the U.S. and provides technical leadership to enhance security posture in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and implement enterprise security solutions to protect company assets, revenue, and brand reputation.
- Establish security configurations and controls for Microsoft and other cloud architectures.
- Lead large-scale, complex global security projects, delegating tasks as necessary.
- Develop and execute employee security awareness programs to address knowledge gaps.
- Act as the senior technical support point for operational security issues, including data protection tools, cloud security, and identity management.
- Manage security incident response, providing technical leadership during escalations.
- Conduct root cause analysis post-security incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Review and recommend security technologies, ensuring alignment with industry standards and organizational goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security measures into broader IT initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of emerging security threats and industry trends to proactively enhance security posture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years specializing in security and technical support.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, SANS GIAC, CISM, or Cloud Security Alliance certifications (preferred).
- Deep knowledge of IT systems, processes, and controls.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office 365 security and compliance.
- Understanding of financial and IT risk management, regulatory compliance, and vendor risk management.
- Strong leadership skills with experience leading complex security projects.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven project management capabilities.
- Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, Data Loss Prevention, Azure cloud solutions, and enterprise mobility security.
- Ability to analyze business requirements and develop comprehensive technical specifications.
