Closure Regulatory Professional

Primary Responsibilities

• Support preparation and revision of regulatory documents, including RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI) reports, Corrective Measures Studies (CMS), Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs), Data Quality Objectives (DQOs), Data Usability Assessments (DUAs), and Tier 2/3 Closure Plans.
• Aid in regulatory strategy development, interpreting closure requirements, tracking milestone commitments, and coordinating responses to regulator comments.
• Review scientific and environmental data (prepared by modelers, geologists, engineers, and analysts) to ensure regulatory documents accurately reflect technical conclusions.
• Coordinate with DOE, Ecology, EPA, contractors, and stakeholders by participating in discussions, preparing materials, and capturing meeting minutes, action items, and comment resolutions.
• Contribute to planning and execution of closure-related tasks, such as updates to RFI/CMS Work Plans, barrier and interim-measure documentation, and regulatory correspondence packages.
• Participate in internal review cycles, integrating technical inputs, incorporating comments, and preparing documents for formal transmittal.
• Prepare clear, well-structured presentations and summaries to communicate regulatory positions, document status, or technical concepts.

Required Qualifications

• Grade 17: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Policy, or a closely related technical field and four (4) years related experience supporting environmental compliance, cleanup, site restoration, or regulatory documentation.
• Grade 18: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Policy, or a closely related technical field and six (6) years directly related experience supporting environmental compliance, cleanup, site restoration, or regulatory documentation.
• Grade 19: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Policy, or a closely related technical field and eight (8) years related experience supporting environmental compliance, cleanup, site restoration, or regulatory documentation.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience assisting and conducting meetings, briefings, preparing/delivering technical presentations, and documenting technical meeting notes and actions.
• Ability to interpret environmental and scientific data (e.g., geologic, hydrologic, analytical) and accurately incorporate findings into regulatory documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Familiarity with RCRA corrective action, and/or state cleanup regulations (e.g., MTCA); knowledge of Hanford Site regulatory frameworks or the Tri-Party Agreement is a plus.
• Experience with preparation of regulatory documents such as Work Plans, SAPs, DQOs, Corrective Measures Studies, or Closure Plans.
• General understanding of subsurface characterization, contaminant migration, and fate and transport concepts.
• Experience coordinating and interfacing with federal regulatory agencies and-or environmental oversight groups is beneficial.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hiring Range Minimum: $99,063
• Hiring Range Maximum: $151,038
