Closing Cashier

About the role

At Wegmans, our closing cashiers make sure customers end their shopping trips with a positive experience. In this role, you’ll engage customers in friendly conversation while making eye contact and smiling; proactively offer additional assistance, thank customers for shopping at Wegmans. You’ll also efficiently and accurately scan items and process payments, properly bag items to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store, manage traffic flow, direct customers to available lanes, ensure the lanes are in good working order, and assist customers with system troubleshooting. You'll maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work space.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers in friendly conversation while making eye contact and smiling; proactively offer additional assistance, thank customers for shopping at Wegmans
• Efficiently and accurately scan items and process payments
• Properly bag items to ensure products arrive at their destination in the condition they left the store
• Manage traffic flow, direct customers to available lanes, ensure the lanes are in good working order and assist customers with system troubleshooting
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work space

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous retail experience preferred.

Skills

• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Basic computer skills, including scanning and data entry

Pay

$17 - $17.50 / hour

Schedule

Part time, evening shifts ending as late as 12am, including weekends.
