About the role

Responsibilities
- Visibly greet, engage, and assist customers in the check lane.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system.
- Handle various tenders like Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Report and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and overages, and work honestly to control loss.
- Understand and report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay updated with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Enforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate departments or store managers of any items needing repair.
- Answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
