About the role

Responsibilities
- Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Understand and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages.
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
Skills
- Understanding of POS systems.
- Handling various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures).
- Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Ability to work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
- Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Ability to manage and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
