About the role
The Insurance Assistant is responsible for submitting and following up on claims to third party payers, monitoring claim status, resolving issues with payers, and facilitating prompt payment of claims.
Responsibilities
- Submit and follow up on claims to third party payers
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Monitor claim status to identify claims needing correction or appeal
- Work with payers to resolve issues and facilitate prompt payment
- Verify health insurance benefits to ensure coverage and eligibility before claims submission
Requirements
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and medical patient accounting services procedures
- Knowledge of coding and clinic operating policies and procedures
- Knowledge of insurance agency reimbursement procedures and practices
- Knowledge of the organization's policies and procedures
- Use of computer and calculator
- Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions
- Effective communication with co-workers and supervisors
- Clear communication skills
