CLINICIAN I/II - CSU **20hrs**

Licensed candidates are preferred as either a LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC; however, ACSW, APCC, or AMFT with experience can be considered. Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or addiction issues is encouraged.

Schedule

Sunday through Wednesday, 5:30 pm – 10:30 pm (5-hour shifts).

Pay

• Associate (Clinician I) Step 1: $42.07/hr; Step 6 (15 years): $46.45/hr
• Licensed (Clinician II) Step 1: $54.30/hr; Step 6 (15 years): $59.96/hr
• 10% shift differential for evening shifts (5:30 pm – 10:59 pm)
• Bi-lingual pay: $135 per paycheck for threshold languages

Pay rates for Union positions are set in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU Local 521. Union staff are promoted from Step 1 to Step 2 upon their one-year anniversary.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership in comprehensive assessments, case conferences, treatment plans, and strategic interventions to ensure quality service delivery.
• Serve as a lead member of the treatment team; participate in crisis intervention, clinical supervision, and direct services within scope of practice.
• Provide orientation, consultation, and coordination within the work team to ensure service delivery meets the needs of clients, families, and payors.
• Provide clinical leadership, training, and guidance to staff, interns, and volunteers consistent with agency standards.
• Provide consultation and backup to support staff in responding to client crises.
• Develop, review, evaluate, and sign documentation, including those requiring LPHA signature.
• Provide treatment services, training, and support to clients individually and in groups, including services to clients’ families or representatives.
• Interview clients and their representatives to gather demographic and psychosocial information; complete strengths assessments and needs analyses.
• Develop goal-oriented, time-limited, comprehensive plans in cooperation with clients and/or their representatives.
• Facilitate and/or lead groups through rehabilitation counseling to develop life, coping, and independent living skills; develop curriculums.
• Assist clients with understanding their problems and developing plans to resolve them.
• Maintain regular communication with families and authorized third parties involved in the rehabilitation process.
• Coordinate needed services for clients, their families, and others significant to the service plans; make referrals to public and private agencies.
• Develop recommendations for discharge and follow-up treatment planning.
• Complete comprehensive reassessments prior to expiration of current treatment plans.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical records and documentation in accordance with agency, payor, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide assessment and intervention in response to client crises, including necessary follow-up and emergency coverage.
• Assist Program Manager in maintaining compliance with CARF, contract, agency, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide transportation in personal or agency vehicle for clients and/or program supplies.
• Provide on-call coverage and participate in after-hours rotation as assigned.
• Perform First Aid in emergency situations if assigned to residential facilities.
• Attend and participate in staff, program, agency, and community meetings and training as required.
• Meet continuing education requirements for regulatory, accreditation, and agency needs.
• Participate in management of team/program discretionary resources to meet client needs.

The goals are to reintegrate clients into the community by focusing on interpersonal and independent living skills, as well as developing community support systems. Programs provide a stabilizing environment, self-help skills, and a plan to assist clients’ transition back into the community.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a mental health profession and one year’s experience in human services settings (preferably in a mental health setting or with targeted populations). Doctorate education and licensing may be substituted where appropriate.
• Eligibility for waiver and apply for registration and waiver upon hire; obtain waiver within six months of hire date.
• Eligibility for registration from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an AMFT, ACSW, or APCC, or from the California Board of Psychology (BOP) as a Registered Psychologist or Psychological Assistant.
• First Aid Certification or successful completion within 30 days of hire if assigned to residential facilities.
• Meet government and/or regulatory standards for continuing education credits and recertification, including a minimum of 20 hours of directly related professional training if assigned to a residential facility.
• Proven typing speed of 30 net wpm (40 net wpm desired); computer literacy with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows-based databases; familiarity with UNIX-based databases desired.
• Demonstrated ability to:

  • Organize and manage a caseload; manage multiple tasks and demands on a timely basis.
  • Engage and communicate effectively in verbal and written English; legible handwriting.
  • Conceptualize and prioritize the problems of mentally disordered individuals, determining their needs, services, and appropriate treatment methods.
  • Monitor and support developmental growth and the recovery process.
  • Conduct and facilitate group rehabilitation services.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete medical charts and client records; prepare reports.
  • Employ tact and diplomacy, exercise good judgment, and act calmly in emergency situations.
  • Work from a strengths-based, harm-reduction, social rehabilitation model.
  • Work effectively with persons differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities, and disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals with serious mental illness who have histories of hospitalization, institutionalization, substance abuse, low engagement in medication treatment, and difficulty in structured activities or independent living.
  • Exhibit exemplary customer service, compassion, and care in all duties and interactions.
• Knowledge of:
  • Clinical techniques for assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of people with mental illness; problem resolution and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Community resources required to meet the non-mental health needs of the target population.
  • Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) (desired).
• Special Requirements:
  • Ability to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by Title XXII, licensing regulations, and agency practices.
  • Valid California Driver License, access to a reliable vehicle or company vehicle, current proof of auto liability insurance, and a clean DMV record.
• Physical requirements (with or without accommodation):
  • Hearing and talking on telephone and in person; standing, walking, sitting, pinching, and finger flexion required constantly (over 2/3 of the workday).
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling required occasionally (under 1/3 of the workday).
  • Must be physically able to assist clients in the evacuation of program facilities in emergency situations.
