Clinical Therapist II, LCADC (Addiction Recovery Services) - Full Time

About the role

As a Clinical Therapist II, LCADC at Hackensack Meridian Health, you will treat patients using a variety of modalities as part of a multidisciplinary clinical treatment team. You will provide psychological and social interventions supporting patients and families dealing with behavioral health issues, including primary mental health, substance use, and/or co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and psychosocial assessments, develop and review treatment plans based on findings, and adhere to department policy.
• Provide effective crisis intervention, addiction recovery, behavioral health treatment, and education through individual and/or group therapy.
• Complete all required documentation and written reports in a timely manner according to department and hospital policy.
• Serve patients with primary mental health, substance use, and/or co-occurring disorders in accordance with licensure regulations.
• Interpret patient needs and develop tailored treatment plans considering growth, development, and evidence-based treatment options.
• Provide comprehensive case management services and assessments as needed.
• Assess Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and provide education, information, or referrals to meet patient needs.
• Collaborate with patients (with consent), families, and support persons to create a comprehensive discharge plan addressing continuing care needs.
• Reassess and revise treatment plans on an ongoing basis, evaluating progress and adjusting when clinically indicated.
• Maintain protected patient health information as required by law, state licensing, TJC, and HMH policy.
• Assist behavioral/medical team members in responding to emergencies.
• Refer patients to community agencies and resources as appropriate.
• Assist with interviewing and orienting new staff members.
• Supervise social work or counseling students completing field placements.
• Identify and address the specific needs of diverse patient populations (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing, or visual impairments) through tailored care and communication.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing/pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for at least 4 hours per day.
• Adhere to the Medical Center’s Organizational Competencies.
• Receive proper supervision as required by your licensing board.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Addiction/Counseling, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of post-licensure work experience in the same field.
• Ability to perform psychosocial assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention theory, disease management, differential diagnoses, and treatment techniques.
• Knowledge of biomedical/medical client education and psychopharmacology/physiology of addiction.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong follow-through and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Preferred qualifications include the ability to provide guidance or mentorship to other team members.

Licenses and Certifications

• NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
• Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).

Pay

The minimum starting rate for this role is $79,601.60 annually. The final base compensation may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding. Full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) positions are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Some roles may also qualify for shift differentials, performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
