Clinical Technician - Medical/Surgical and Telemetry

About the role

Martin North Hospital is part of the renowned Cleveland Clinic, a leading nonprofit academic medical center. This unit focuses on providing comprehensive care for patients with various medical and surgical conditions, particularly those requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. The unit also caters to patients with gastro-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including taking vital signs and weight, assisting with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices, and inserting urinary Foley Catheters.
• Report any abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly patient room environment.
• Complete an internal training program within two weeks of hire.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, obtained or within two weeks of hire.
• Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required prior to hire.
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).
• Additional education/training in mental health (preferred).

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, BLS Certification, and completion of an internal training program within two weeks of hire.
• Preferred qualifications: One year of recent, full-time patient care experience, nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation, military experience as a Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician, or additional education/training in mental health.

Skills

• Technical skills to support patient care under RN supervision.
• Ability to perform manual tasks, including moving and lifting patients.
• Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for personal care assistance.
• Physical stamina for extended periods of standing and walking.
