Clinical/Medical Lab Technician

Job Duties

• Performs specimen testing
• Ensures quality performance
• Adheres to regulatory compliance guidelines
• Maintains competency
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
• Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
• Strong interpersonal skills

Work Experience

• Hospital or Clinical Laboratory Testing experience

Education

• Associate's Degree/College Diploma in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science
• OR - military MLT certificate

Certifications

• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (if applicable) or within 180 days of hire
• ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification as Medical Lab Technician must be obtained within 90 days of hire

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Light Work
• Exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
• Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
