Clinical Tech. (Medical Assistant)

At Fast Pace Health, Clinical Techs provide clinical and administrative support essential for effective patient care under the direct supervision of a Provider, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant. They deliver outstanding patient service, maintain a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere, and respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. This position ensures effective customer service for all internal and external customers using excellent, in-depth knowledge and strong communication with team members.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill all responsibilities of the Patient Care Specialist position as detailed in the specific job description.
• Maintain friendly, cordial relations with all employees, building and maintaining confidence and credibility.
• Deliver clinical and administrative support for the team while adhering to all company policies and procedures.

• Ensure activities comply with Federal and State regulations, including HIPAA and health information management.
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient intake.
• Triage patients by checking vitals, performing blood draws, giving injections, and observing patient conditions.
• Chart and report changes in patients’ conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment.
• Assist with lab testing, phlebotomy, and minor procedures.
• Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatment.
• Assist patients utilizing a Virtual Medicine Provider.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of patient charts and forward them as appropriate.
• Arrange referrals to specialists and obtain pre-authorizations as directed by the Provider.
• Perform federal and non-federal DOT, BAT, and Drug Screen exams.
• Comply with physical, sensory, cognitive, and environmental demands of the position.
• Maintain a respectful culture of confidentiality for employees, employers, and business.
• Complete all mandatory compliance training.
• Maintain overall cleanliness of the office, including garbage disposal, organization, and professional appearance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assist with clerical work such as checking in patients, recording demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and relay payment policies and billing/collection processes.
• Answer telephones, take messages, and return voicemails in a friendly and professional manner.

Essential Functions Supporting Telehealth

• Prepare patient charts via virtual communication (phone or video conferencing).
• Assist with patient follow-ups, including pharmacy requests, paperwork, scheduling, and clinical calls.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Current CPR license.
• At least 1 year of experience as a certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic preferred in a clinic setting (urgent care preferred).
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant school strongly preferred; license must be active, in good standing, and verifiable.
• TB and IV Certification required within 60 days of employment (if applicable in your state).

Experience Levels

• Level 1: High School Diploma or equivalent with a current CPR license and/or at least 1 year of experience as a certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic.
• Level 2: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with a current CPR license and either (1) 4 years’ experience in a relevant role and 2 years of Fast Pace experience or (2) 6 years’ experience in a relevant role.
• Level 3: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with a current CPR license and either (1) 6 years’ experience in a relevant role and 2 years of Fast Pace experience or (2) 8 years’ experience in a relevant role.
• Level 4: Certified MA, EMT, or Paramedic with a current CPR license and either (1) 6 years’ experience in a relevant role and 2 years of Fast Pace experience or (2) 8 years’ experience in a relevant role.
