Clinical Tech - Critical Decision Unit - Part Time - Days - Jackson, MI

Eligible for sign-on bonus. Location: Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, 205 N East Ave., Jackson, MI 49201.

About the role

Join a fast-paced 19-bed Observation Unit where you’ll deliver high-quality, compassionate care under the guidance of dedicated nursing staff and physicians. You’ll be a vital part of the patient journey, assisting with procedures, monitoring vitals, and ensuring patient comfort. The unit offers RN autonomy, excellent provider partnerships, and self-scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Collect and record essential patient data, including vitals, food and fluid intake/output, with precision and care.
• Respond to patient needs and partner with RNs to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
• Monitor and report subtle changes in patient condition promptly.
• Support patient mobility by assisting with ambulation and transfers.
• Assist with oxygen devices under RN direction and apply slings post-pacemaker procedures.
• Perform clinical tasks such as Foley catheter insertion, bladder scans, enemas, blood glucose checks, and document results.
• Provide assistance with daily activities, including dressing, meals, and hygiene.
• Support RNs during equipment use and bedside procedures.
• Deliver culturally sensitive care to patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics.
• Promote positive experiences for patients and families through kind, respectful interaction.
• Perform phlebotomy and IV access procedures with confidence and care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One of the following:
  • Current nursing student (minimum two completed semesters).
  • Graduate of an LPN, EMT, Paramedic, or Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified in Phlebotomy.
  • Previous Clinical Tech experience.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to tailor care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
• Experience in an acute care setting (preferred, not required).
• Valid BLS certification (or must be obtained during Patient Care Orientation).

Schedule

• 24 hours per week.
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation.
• Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
