Clinical Support Analyst II
Phoenix, Arizona – Day shift in the IT Clinical Care-Corp department.
About the role
This position serves as a liaison to ensure successful integration of clinical systems and processes. The Clinical Support Analyst II works with the applications and support team to develop and deploy best practices in utilization of clinical application systems, trains clinicians on software and IT processes, and assists in the development and implementation of current and future clinical information systems. Collaborates with IT and other clinical or business departments across the organization to increase efficiencies and promote continuity of care through technology and workflow improvements.
Responsibilities
- Performs Outcomes Coordinator functions, promoting understanding and effective use of technology through high visibility rounding, user group support, and coaching of end users.
- Provides application testing for system enhancements; participates in solution evaluation, tracks, monitors, and enhances usage, develops, and implements action plans.
- Provides visibility and support of clinical applications systems; may coordinate with other departments regarding downtime.
- Provides clinical application system training of end users as needed; implements communication and education plans for current staff to ensure changes to the electronic health record are implemented.
- Utilizes data analytics to support needs-based training; identifies opportunities for educational opportunities across specialties or venues.
- Participates in system teams that work on process improvement in electronic health record and clinical application education activities.
- Maintains on-going user communication and support to ensure user competency and obtain information on usage of the system and workflow concerns through established, regularly scheduled rounding.
- Collaborates with end-users to help define issues and enhancement opportunities within the electronic health record.
- Provides project support for the deployment and support of new and existing IT clinical applications.
- Resolves complex electronic health record issues, performs analysis of background function, quality measures, and interoperability.
- Collaborates with users, service area leadership, and IT field services to resolve conflicts between workflow and the electronic health record.
- Evaluates complex clinical workflows, supports clinical care, and escalates suggestions for process improvement.
- Supports staff in the use of existing technology to promote patient safety and confidentiality, and supports facility-specific and system-wide processes.
- Leads, influences, and independently manages and assesses results of projects or workgroups.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in healthcare IT, clinical practices, regulatory standards, and organizational direction.
- Supports peers as an influencer for positive outcomes, utilizing knowledge to support users and process teams with creation of documentation standards.
- Interacts with and supports all levels of end users, including technicians, nurses, therapists, and physicians.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or related business discipline.
- License for a clinical position in a practicing state or certification in a clinical healthcare setting.
- Three to five years of experience working within a complex and diverse healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in the use of system office applications.
- Basic understanding of integrated clinical systems.
- Highly developed interpersonal and critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize needs rapidly.
- Ability to convey messages and thoughts clearly to a diverse audience, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to promote change among large groups of workers.
- Ability to coordinate information and activities, work under stress of deadlines and frequent interruptions, and possess analytical problem-solving skills.
- Maintain familiarity with clinical care processes and information technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in information systems.
- EHR experience, Oracle Cerner preferred.
- Prior experience in informatics.
- Applicable certifications and/or licensures, including but not limited to: PT/OT; RT; Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA); Certified Protection Professional (CPP); Associate in Risk Management (ARM); Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA); Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT); Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM); Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Occasional evening and/or night shifts required for project support.
