About the role

Responsibilities

  • Accepts accountability for the provision of care in accordance with UVA Health’s policies and procedures and competency to promote patient health and wellness.
  • Ensures implementation and success of organizational goals; organizes and coordinates the clinical environment, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of healthcare services.
  • Supervises 20 or more clinical FTEs and may include RN, LPNs, medical assistants and other unlicensed personnel.
  • Serves as a clinical leader of the healthcare team.
  • Provides patient care support in accordance with nursing scope of practice.
  • Provides services to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individuals served.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 year supervisory or lead experience required.
  • BLS required.
  • Ability to successfully complete general and department role based specific skills validation and competency testing.
  • Excellent human relation skills, possess effective oral and written communication skills, possess leadership and problem-solving skills, operate personal computer.
  • Ability to successfully complete Leader Education and training.

Qualifications

  • 4 Year/Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Competencies

  • Patient Care: Responsible for practicing safely within the defined standards of practice. Records and relays patient information, symptoms, and concerns to the patient’s medical provider or registered nurse for further triage assessment and to determine a plan of care. Assists patients with therapeutic regimens. Implements established plans of care and age-appropriate interventions. Reinforces patient/family teaching plan based on identified health education needs and the condition and age of the patient through approved educational materials or written instructions. Administers tasks, treatments, and medications in accordance with validated competencies.
  • Teamwork: Willing to share responsibilities, support their teammates, and work together to achieve common goals. Organizes and prioritizes daily work assignments to support patient needs, the interdisciplinary team, and operational efficiency. Demonstrates teamwork in the delivery of patient care. Recognizes the importance of time sensitive issues.

Physical Demands

The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment. Pay

The base compensation range for this role is $36.26 - $58.88 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
