Clinical Speech Pathologist - Inpatient

About the role

The section of speech-language pathology within the Head and Neck Department of the Integrated Surgical Institute at Cleveland Clinic announces an opening for a full time (40 hours per week) inpatient pediatric position on Main Campus.

Responsibilities

• Work as a part of the multidisciplinary team participating in state-of-the-art clinical care.
• Diagnose and treat varied disorders in pediatric acute care, including dysphagia, speech-language, and cognitive disorders, tracheostomy, and ventilator dependency.
• Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients.
• Interpret and report on test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
• Provide counseling and education about communication and diagnosis to patients and their families.
• Determine therapeutic plan, including need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
• Select assistive speech devices to improve patient communication.
• Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.
• Provide observations about hearing and other behavior to help determine the need for other services.
• Maintain records of all services.
• Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such as schools and employers.
• Maintain speech pathology equipment and materials.
• Aid in planning, budgeting, service or project development, fee setting, purchasing of new equipment or materials.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
• Current Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
• Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
• Completion of a nine-month clinical fellowship year
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to perform tests
• Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required

Qualifications

• Experience in pediatric feeding & swallowing, including the completion and interpretation of modified barium swallow examinations
• Strong background in pediatric feeding & swallowing
• Eligible for licensure in Ohio

• Knowledge of speech pathology techniques and equipment

Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary: $63,250.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $96,467.50

Schedule

Full-time role. Works 8:00am to 5:00pm.
