Responsibilities
- Welcome patients to the clinical area and accompany them to examination rooms.
- Under the direction of the physician, assist in examinations and treatments.
- Interview patients, measure vitals, and accurately record information.
- Prepare treatment rooms and assist with the removal of staples and sutures.
- Administer injections and apply casts, splints, and other treatments under the supervision of the physician.
- Complete necessary documentation in the electronic medical recordkeeping system.
- Coordinate surgeries and appointments, and assist with patient inquiries regarding medication and post-operative treatment.
- Submit prescriptions to the pharmacy as directed by the physician.
- Act as an agent for the licensed provider as needed.
- Travel to other locations as required.
- (For Preceptors) Assist with new hire orientation, collaborate with the Clinical Educator, and facilitate learning activities for new hires.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited business school or college with a focus in medical assisting.
- 1-2 years of experience in a medical assistant role.
- Current Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Familiarity with general medical terminology and orthopedic-specific disorders.
- Ability to effectively and accurately use the electronic medical records system.
- Standing and walking for up to 80% of work time.
Qualifications
