About the role

This is a remote position not located at a physical Medtronic site. The candidate hired will be required to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver's license is essential for this role.

Provide technical, educational, operational, and sales support to assist the district in meeting Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) sales and customer service objectives. CRM seeks collaborative candidates who will meet customer expectations by striving for reliability and quality in our products, processes, and systems through accountability, communication, and action.

Clinical Specialists are required to be within their assigned territory each day to be available for unscheduled needs. The role requires working a number of weekends and holidays during the quarter, as determined by local management. Weeknight call coverage is primarily the responsibility of the Sales Rep, but Clinical Specialists may occasionally be scheduled for weeknight coverage based on business or geographical needs, as approved by regional management.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Support
    • Successfully complete CRM Field Technical Training, including online and field-based training.
    • Perform checks/interrogations of all CRM medical device systems post sign-off.
    • Support implants of all CRM products post sign-off.
    • Provide on-call support as needed on evenings and weekends post sign-off.
    • Provide troubleshooting support as requested.
  • Operational Support
    • Ensure completion of patient registration and any other required hospital documentation.
    • Manage consignment inventory and trunk inventory once obtained.
    • Provide additional inventory support to meet customer needs.
    • Maintain software on programmers throughout the district as directed.
    • Assist with managing daily coverage logistics as needed.
  • Educational Support
    • Educate and train physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on products or solutions for which training has been completed.
    • Assist with educating and training new Clinical Specialists and Sales Representatives post sign-off.
  • Sales Support
    • Partner with DSM, Sales Reps, and DM to learn market dynamics and local customer motivations and needs; understand how Medtronic CRM products and solutions offer value to the customer.
    • Assist with obtaining customer POs throughout the quarter.
    • Develop a basic understanding of the competitive landscape.
    • Independently identify customer needs and opportunities and provide feedback to Sales Rep(s) to support sales objectives.
  • Ongoing Technical Development
    • Stay up to date on new products, solutions, and patient management offerings.
    • Complete all assigned training in a timely manner.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications
    • High School Diploma plus a minimum 6 years of work experience in healthcare, field sales, or work experience utilizing complex mathematics, mechanical concepts, science, or computing.
    • or Associate’s Degree plus a minimum 4 years of work experience in healthcare, field sales, or work experience utilizing complex mathematics, mechanical concepts, science, or computing.
    • or Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum 2 years of work experience in healthcare, field sales, or work experience utilizing complex mathematics, mechanical concepts, science, or computing.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Thorough working knowledge of medical terminology and the medical device industry.
    • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with peers and colleagues across organization levels.
    • Strong work ethic in accomplishing objectives of the position.
    • Expertise with Microsoft tools and other applications (e.g., SalesForce.com).
    • Ability to meet vendor credentialing requirements.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to coordinate and participate in numerous tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment in an organized manner while meeting deadlines.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Frequent travel to customer clinics, hospitals, and offsite meetings (minimum travel of 10%). Must drive approximately 80% of the time within assigned territory. A valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy are required; driving record will be reviewed as part of the application.
  • Continuous verbal and written communication.
  • Frequent 2-handed lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to chair/table and between surfaces at approximately the same level.
  • Sitting, standing, and/or walking for up to eight or more hours per day.
  • Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease, and radiation.
  • Ability to wear 7-9 lbs of lead for extended periods while in the O.R.
  • Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to effectively use a mobile phone, PC, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and balancing.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus related to travel and operating a personal computer.
