About the role
We are seeking a committed professional to join our Cranial & Spinal Technologies (CST) operating unit, which advances surgical care for spine and cranial conditions through an integrated ecosystem of implants, navigation, robotics, imaging, and planning tools. This field-based Clinical Specialist role requires residency within the territory and frequent travel to multiple accounts, including overnight stays. A valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance are essential.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, support, and collaborate with NRCs and other Surgical Synergy team members for on-site installations with customers.
- Represent Medtronic during technology-enabled procedures to provide technical assistance.
- Maintain system hardware and software to maximize performance, including installing upgrades and performing preventative maintenance.
- Provide telephone clinical support to customers and use UNIX/LINUX commands to modify operating files.
- Fulfill Software and Service Contract obligations and act as the primary customer liaison for repair and technical support issues.
- Report customer concerns, issues, and market opportunities to the district team in a timely manner.
- Maintain familiarity with call statuses and issues at customer sites, and file weekly site visit and customer contact reports.
- Educate and train physicians and hospital personnel (OR, Radiology, Central Sterile Processing, Biomedical, and IT) on technical matters related to technology-enabled procedures.
- Serve as a clinical resource for surgeons, clinicians, and trainees, providing tips, shortcuts, and suggestions.
- Participate in in-house customer training and provide "train the trainer" resources for hospital staff.
- Train Surgical Synergy Clinical Support team members on the latest technology-enabled procedures.
- Collaborate with NRCs, Spinal Sales, and NS Reps to identify prospective new users for Navigation and Robotics.
- Attend sales meetings, training programs, conventions, and trade shows as directed.
- Submit reports and provide information as required.
- Support complex, new image-guided products and applications for physicians and hospital staff.
- Work with the Surgical Synergy Region Manager and CSM to prioritize customer technical support and service expectations.
- Provide input on new product development based on in-field experience.
- Document installations and adhere to company policies, conducting all business ethically.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 years of clinical, medical sales, or medical imaging/navigation/robotics experience; or
- Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of clinical, medical sales, or medical imaging/navigation/robotics experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of clinical, medical sales, or medical imaging/navigation/robotics experience.
- Valid driver’s license, active vehicle insurance, and a clean driving record (reviewed as part of the application).
- Ability to drive approximately 50% of the time within the assigned territory, including overnight travel.
- Ability to function using healthcare universal precautions to minimize exposure to infectious disease and radiation.
- Ability to serve as the primary resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events, including weekends, evenings, and nights.
- Ability to work efficiently and autonomously with minimal direction outside of clinical events.
- Ability to attend national/district meetings and training as requested.
- Physical ability to wear a 7-9 lbs protective lead apron for extended periods in the operating room.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform tasks requiring sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, and balancing for 8+ hours per day.
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- For degrees earned outside the U.S., compliance with 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
Skills
- RT and/or MRI certification (nice to have).
- Prior experience with Image Guided Systems or MRI.
- Operating room experience.

Pay
Salary ranges for U.S. locations (excluding Puerto Rico and specific California locations): $76,000.00 - $114,000.00 USD. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
