Clinical Specialist
About the role
We are seeking a highly organized, energetic, and experienced Clinical Specialist to support both clinical and administrative operations within the medical team. Guided by our values, “Safety Above All”, we proactively manage the risks inherent in human spaceflight through our daily actions. This role plays a critical part in supporting the astronaut medical journey, astronaut flight readiness, and pilot medical currency initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for affiliate physicians, vendors, and customers
- Maintain and update confidential medical records
- Cook up and transfer external medical records
- Manage clinic and pharmacy inventory and supplies
- Coordinate state-mandated pharmacy inspections and maintain related documentation
- Prepare exam rooms and clean/sterilize medical equipment
- Absorb basic measurements, vitals, and lab support during physician exams
- Support medication documentation and clinical administrative processes
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding medical and organizational matters
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Three plus years of relevant professional experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical setting (e.g., nursing, physical therapy, surgical technology, medical scribing, etc.)
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems
- Familiarity with healthcare privacy regulations, including HIPAA and GDPR
- Familiar with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Professional, empathetic, and customer-focused approach
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and varying organizational levels
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to adjust priorities and approaches as needed
- Ability to communicate in a timely, respectful, and collaborative manner
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and OneNote
- Willingness to pursue additional training and certifications as needed
Qualifications
- Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in confined spaces
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 2 hours uninterrupted)
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. without assistance
- Willingness to pursue additional training and certifications as needed
Skills
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (NM)
- Familiarity with FAA medical standards
- Experience supporting operations within an aerospace environment
Benefits
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $69,550.00–$100,925.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
