About the Role

Harris County Public Health (HCPH) is seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to provide clinical and administrative supervision and engage with participants and families by delivering direct mental health services. The Maternal and Child Health Program aims to expand mental health resource navigation by providing access to comprehensive mental health services for individuals and families navigating the challenges of pregnancy and parenthood.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized mental health treatment plans addressing participants’ emotional, psychological, and social needs.
  • Provide evidence-based individual and family psychotherapy to program participants, ensuring culturally responsive, client-centered care.
  • Provide clinical services consistent with professional standards and scope of practice to ensure appropriate referrals and case management.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups, psychoeducational sessions, and workshops supporting maternal mental health and family functioning.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation for all services, participant interactions, and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to support case consultation, continuity of care, and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW)
  • At least one (1) year of experience providing direct mental health services.
  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in good standing, or be eligible for Texas licensure upon hire.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License upon hire.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a full-time position, typically working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional flexibility required for evenings and weekends. The work environment is a professional office setting with occasional visits to private residential homes, clinics, and other community organizations.

The physical demands of the role are largely sedentary, with some duties requiring the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
