Responsibilities

  • Schedules and receives patients/families for all department services (appointments, testing, procedures, etc.)
  • Answers and routes telephone calls from within or outside of the organization.
  • Types reports, letters and dictation, Xeroxing, faxing, and data entry into various applications.
  • Captures and coordinates office procedures and efficient operations of department.
  • Communicates effectively via personal contact, phone and in writing with patients/families, hospital staff, community professionals, insurance companies, etc.
  • Accurately uses all Microsoft applications necessary for reports, letters, forms, etc.
  • Maintains office supplies.
  • Assists with project work.
  • Participates in cross coverage efforts with other secretaries/departments as directed.

Requirements

  • Requires proficient secretarial skills.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Must have telephone skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications preferred.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions in an appropriate manner and independently with minimal supervision and maintain confidential information.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) years' experience in secretarial duties (answers and routes phone calls, typing, data entry, etc.) required.
  • Medical field and/or clinical setting with clinical/medical terminology experience preferred.
