Clinical RN - High-Risk Cardiology (Night Shift)

About the Role

Our unit is vital to the flow of patients needing to be admitted from the ED, CCU, admitting, procedure areas, and other hospital units, as well as from outside hospitals. Most of our patient populations are those diagnosed with myocardial infarction requiring cardiac catheterization, congestive heart failure, heart arrhythmias, and pulmonary hypertension.

Nursing Divisions 9100/9200 are 25-bed high-risk cardiology units offering many exciting challenges and learning opportunities. Patients in these units often require advanced medication infusions and post-cardiac procedure care. Our team consists of registered nurses, patient/student nurse technicians, and house staff, including residents and interns.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
