Clinical Research Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Alzheimer’s & Dementia Research

About the role

The Department of Neurology at The University of Chicago Medical Center seeks a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Healthy Aging & Alzheimer's Research Care (HAARC) Center. This role involves conducting clinical research assessments, managing participants in research studies, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with study protocols.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical research assessments, including cognitive and neurological evaluations.
• Perform medical history reviews, physical examinations, and administer diagnostic and cognitive assessments.
• Oversee and manage participants in clinical research studies, including screening, enrollment, and follow-up visits.
• Collaborate with principal investigators to ensure adherence to clinical research protocols and regulatory compliance.
• Educate participants and care partners about study procedures, visit schedules, and risks and benefits of procedures.
• Monitor and manage adverse events and report findings to the principal investigator and regulatory team.
• Aid in data collection, documentation, and interpretation of study results.
• Support the development of research protocols and contribute to manuscript preparation and presentations.
• Perform blood draws, process biological samples, and coordinate with laboratory teams for specimen handling and analysis.
• Ensure participant data confidentiality and compliance with federal regulations and sponsor protocols.
• Prepare for and participate in quality assurance reviews conducted by study sponsors, federal agencies, or specially designated review groups.
• Analyze study-related documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutional review board documents, or progress reports.
• Stay current with emerging research and advancements in Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
• Evaluate goals and outcomes, considering the benefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family, and the organization.
• Develop diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient’s plan of care.
• Perform other related work as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
• Minimum requirements include 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.
• Preferred qualifications include fundamental working knowledge of clinical research and proficiency in venipuncture and blood sample processing.

Qualifications

• Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration required.
• Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO).
