About the role
Performs a variety of duties essential to maintaining the Trauma Registry as mandated by the Department of Health. Coordinates daily operations of the Trauma Registry by coding and abstracting clinical and demographic data from patient records. Assumes accountability for all work performed.
Responsibilities
- Codes and abstracts clinical and demographic data from patient records.
- Abstracts and codes injury severity and reimbursement data.
- Works independently and collaborates with the team to maintain the Trauma Registry.
Requirements
- Coursework/Training of Medical terminology.
- Coursework/Training of Human anatomy.
- Knowledge of Medical terminology.
- 1 year of Healthcare or related setting.
- 1 year of Medical record abstracting and/or coding.
- 1 year of Medical registry or 2+ years working in a healthcare-related field.
- 1 year Injury severity coding and reimbursement coding.
Qualifications
- Coursework/Training of Medical coding.
- Upon hire: Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR).
