Responsibilities
Clinical - Assessment: Conducts an individualized patient assessment, prioritizes data collection, and integrates nursing interventions into the multidisciplinary plan of care.
Clinical - Planning: Develops, modifies, and integrates an individualized care plan, establishes measurable patient goals, and consults with the patient and family.
Clinical - Intervention: Performs appropriate treatments and therapeutic nursing interventions, recognizes and responds to potential problems, and initiates emergency resuscitative measures.
Clinical - Evaluation: Evaluates patient responses to care, initiates changes in the interdisciplinary care plan, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team.
Clinical - Patient Education: Identifies learning needs, teaches patients and families, and ensures they demonstrate knowledge of their care.
Self and Peer Learning: Assumes responsibility for assessing and meeting own learning and professional development needs, maintains current competency, and participates in educational programs.
Clinical Leadership: Assumes responsibility for coordinating multiple, increasingly complex patient care demands, supervises delegated care, reports changes in patient condition, and participates in service recovery.
Resource Utilization and Stewardship: Supports organizational efforts regarding appropriate resource utilization, serves as a preceptor/mentor, and contributes to initiatives resulting from quality improvement data studies.
Qualifications
Minimum: Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing, at least one year of nursing (RN) experience, registration as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and/or a compact license to practice in Virginia.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science – Nursing (BSN).
Additional Specialty Requirements: Depending on the specialty area, additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, etc., may be required after hire date.
