Responsibilities

• Learn the mission and functions of County institutions and their relationship to the community
• Understand the purpose, methods, and related functions of the treatment program
• Attend seminars, in-service training classes, and lectures to become familiar with various psychological and medical conditions and appropriate treatment services
• Participate in staff discussions on the applications of psychological principles and techniques, and present case histories
• Interview incoming clients, review medical and psychosocial histories, and prepare appropriate intake documentation
• Administer and participate in the interpretation of psychological, cognitive, developmental, aptitude, and vocational-interest tests for diagnosis, treatment, and vocational counseling
• Participate in the development of psychological treatment plans and maintain written client case histories integrating test interpretations
• Provide supervised psychological counseling and psychotherapy to clients
• Collect measurable outcomes data on clients receiving treatment
• Participate in research-related activities as needed

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association
• A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions

Qualifications

Candidates must provide proof of enrollment in a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association at the time of filing. Acceptable proof includes:

• Class schedule showing name of school and student
• A bill for current/upcoming classes
• A transcript (official or unofficial) showing current/upcoming classes

Additional Information

• This examination will consist of an evaluation of training and experience based on application information, weighted at 100%. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher to be placed on the eligible list.
• The names of qualifying candidates will be added to the Eligible List for a period of twelve (12) months.
• Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, holidays, or weekends.
• Past and present mental health clients and family members are encouraged to apply.
• Final appointment is contingent upon verification of U.S. citizenship or the right to work in the United States.

Physical Class II – Light: This role includes administrative and clerical tasks requiring light physical effort, such as occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds) and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
