This position is located at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, Killeen, TX. Fort Cavazos is a United States Army post in the 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas, approximately 60 miles north of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. The post is the headquarters of III Armored Corps and First Army Division West, home to the 1st Cavalry Division and 3rd Cavalry Regiment, among others.

Responsibilities

  • Apply biopsychosocial evaluations to propose behavioral health interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based treatment, including behavioral, cognitive, and motivational approaches.
  • Provide primary care providers and staff regular and concise feedback on the status of referred patients, including recommendations for team-based care.
  • Implement psychoeducational classes to target high frequency diagnoses found in the primary care clinic.
  • Document information in the electronic health record during patient encounters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes conducting biopsychosocial evaluations, providing individual and group therapy, and consulting with primary care and specialty clinic providers in a medical setting. This experience is typical of work performed at the GS-12 level in the federal service.
  • A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent Clinical Psychologist licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

1-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Psychology is preferred but not required.

Direct Deposit of Pay is required. A one-year trial/probationary period may be required. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
