About the role
This position exists to provide clinical and programmatic oversight of the CARE Unit, ensuring delivery of high quality, trauma informed treatment for adolescent residents with complex behavioral health needs. The role is essential to the CARE program to deliver structured and individualized care, and maintain a strong therapeutic milieu. This position also supports the coordination of multidisciplinary services and the development of staff competency in working with this specialized population.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical oversight and operational leadership for the CARE program’s therapeutic services.
- Supervise and support multidisciplinary team efforts including psychiatry, psychology, nursing, therapy, and education to ensure integrated care.
- Review and guide individualized treatment plans and therapeutic, interventions for residents.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation, documentation, and quality assurance standards.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the clinical and programming schedule to ensure consistent, structured, and therapeutically appropriate services are delivered.
Requirements
- Significant experience working with adolescents.
- Confident in leading clinical programming, supervising staff, and maintaining trauma informed, structured therapeutic environment.
- Knowledgeable about the treatment of adolescents and experience balancing clinical leadership with day-to-day operational needs.
- Strong communication, program oversight, and collaborative leadership are essential.
- Experience managing schedules and interdisciplinary teams in a secure setting is highly preferred.
- Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Psychologist Examiners and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Qualifications
- Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License.
- Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
- SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS—This position is designated as safely sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing.

Working Conditions
- Work is performed on-site at the CARE residential unit located on the NMBHI campus.

- The position requires regular computer use, documentation in electronic medical records, direct interaction with residents, and ongoing collaboration with clinical and administrative staff.
