Responsibilities

• Provide pharmacy-related care for patients with hematology and oncology conditions in accordance with PCI policies, standards of practice, and prescribed workflows.
• Work with clinical and support staff to ensure safe, effective, quality person-centered care.
• Perform independent order verification for chemotherapy and immunotherapy orders.
• Prepare intravenous medications using aseptic technique in an accurate and timely manner.
• Follow protocols for the safe handling of biohazardous materials, sharps, and hazardous drugs.
• Demonstrate mathematical skills required to calculate and prepare dilutions, reconstitutions, and compounded products.
• Use Electronic Inventory Control Cabinet and Software to dispense medications and track waste and inventory.
• Recognize inconsistencies in medication orders, drug order reports, or deviations from practice policies and report these to the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Operations or Senior Leadership Team.
• Order supplies and drugs for infusion and admixture areas by analyzing stock levels and adjusting to practice needs.
• Clean and decontaminate primary and secondary engineering controls on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Check and record temperatures on daily log compliant with USP 797 or 800 guidelines.
• Maintain documentation for inventory control of samples and controlled substances.
• Perform monthly inventory and inspect for expired medications.
• Serve as a liaison to third-party organizations to coordinate medication, supply, or equipment maintenance, delivery, or return.
• Communicate effectively with patients, care partners, healthcare team members, and third-party agents or organizations.
• Serve as a resource to colleagues and as a preceptor to new employees as directed by pharmacy leadership.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and manage time effectively.
• Utilize resources responsibly with a focus on cost containment.
• Accept personal responsibility for professional development and growth.
• Display willingness and flexibility to travel to other areas and locations as needed.
• Complete prior authorizations for oral chemotherapy and supportive care medications.
• Respect and maintain confidential information, demonstrating proficiency in HIPAA concepts.
• Attend prescribed classes and trainings as required by the organization and clinical department.
• Perform related work as directed by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pharmacy technician license through Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
• Certification with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Physical Requirements

• Lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing and walking; periods of prolonged sitting.
• Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing) and fine motor skills (IV starts, venipuncture, injections).
• Environmental exposures may include blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, and patient care/handling injuries.
• Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators.
