Clinical Pharmacist - Outpatient Infusion Oncology

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced clinical pharmacy services for patients receiving cancer therapy and/or specialty infusion therapies.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, accurate, and evidence-based chemotherapy and supportive care.
  • Verifies and interprets medication orders, manages complex regimens, documents clinical interventions, and proactively identifies and resolves medication-related issues.
  • Develops and implements clinical protocols, manages complex chemotherapy regimens, and contributes to infusion/oncology-focused medication safety initiatives.
  • Ensures proper handling, dosing, and administration of hazardous drugs.
  • Maintains ongoing monitoring of therapy outcomes, screens for drug interactions and contraindications, and provides timely recommendations to prescribers to enhance patient safety and therapeutic efficacy.
  • Supports transitions of care by reconciling oncology-related medications, providing drug information and patient education, and participating in quality improvement efforts.
  • Supports patient access and revenue cycle processes, including prior authorization, reimbursement coordination, and patient assistance resources.
  • Oversight of oncology compounding operations to ensure safe preparation practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Contributes to staff training and the effective use of technology to strengthen chemotherapy safety across the continuum of care.

Qualifications

  • Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
  • Completion of postgraduate clinical training (PGY-1) or more than three years of clinical pharmacy with experience in infusion/oncology required.
  • BLS required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Postgraduate clinical training PGY-2, especially in Oncology, preferred.
  • Proficiency in Epic Beacon or similar EMR systems preferred.
  • Board certification in oncology pharmacy (BCOP) or sterile compounding (BCSCP) preferred.
  • Preferred to obtain within 18 months of hire.
  • Advanced clinical and pharmacy operations knowledge in oncology and infusion compounding preferred.
  • Prior authorization, revenue cycle, reimbursement, and payor knowledge preferred.

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $112,320.00 to $151,174.40 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
