Clinical Pharmacist Oncology

Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings. Responsibilities include reviewing medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately preparing and dispensing medications, providing evidence-based drug information, monitoring drug levels to optimize therapy, and educating patients and families about their medications. By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to overall well-being.

About the Facility

Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital (Royal Oak) opened on January 24, 1955, as a 238-bed community hospital. Today, it is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations. The hospital hosts 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows and serves as the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, with over 1,400 physicians on faculty.

Responsibilities

• Provides pharmaceutical care according to professional, departmental, and statutory standards.
• Offers safe, effective, rational, and cost-conscious pharmacotherapeutic recommendations through medication management programs.
• Assists in supervising the functional activities of Pharmacy Technicians and Interns.
• Participates in department-directed medication management activities aligned with organizational goals.
• Demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness in daily activities while maintaining current pharmaceutical practice knowledge.
• Supports management by providing oversight, guidance, and support for assigned areas.
• Participates in the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of new programs and activities.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
• 1 year of Oncology pharmacy experience.

Preferred:

• State of Michigan Clinical Pharmacist License (required within 90 days).
• State of Michigan Pharmacist Controlled Substance License (required within 90 days).
