About the role
The Clinical Pharmacist II delivers comprehensive pharmaceutical care across Renown Health's acute care services. This includes preparing, distributing, and safely handling medications, clinical monitoring, and collaborating with healthcare professionals within established guidelines and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Attends multidisciplinary meetings
- Serves as a formal preceptor
- Provides departmental staff development opportunities
- Maintains accurate patient medication profiles and documentation
- Oversees controlled substance records
- Ensures timely processing of patient charges
- Clinically monitors drug therapy
- Collaborates with providers and nursing staff to recommend appropriate therapies and initiate corrective actions when necessary
- Communicates and documents clinical interventions effectively
- Supervises pharmacy technicians and support staff
- Trains interns and students
- Contributes to departmental quality initiatives
- Provides hands-on training to pharmacist trainees
- Serves as a key member of the healthcare team, supporting inventory control, incident reporting, and continuous improvement efforts
Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE accredited pharmacy program or 10 years of experience in acute care pharmacy
- Completion of a Pharmacy Residency or equivalent training program in clinical pharmacy preferred
- 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience or completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program
- State of Nevada Pharmacist license (Active or Temporary)
- Nationally recognized advanced credential or board certification (BCCCP, BCEMP, BCOP, BCPPS, BCPS, or equivalent)
- BLS certification within 90 days of employment
- ACLS certification within 90 days of employment for certain departments
- PALS certification for Pediatric, Critical Care, or Emergency Medicine shifts
- Computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements and access online forms and policies
- Type 25 WPM
Qualifications
- Working-level knowledge of the English language
- Flexibility, reliability, and initiative
- Ability to work across multiple clinical areas and shifts in a 24/7 operational environment
- Overtime may be required
- Regular attendance at staff, workgroup, and educational meetings
