Location: Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Inpatient Pharmacy – Full-time
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., with weekend rotations.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the hospital medication distribution system and assist system users.
- Function independently and without supervision, processing work at a rate that meets departmental, patient, and institutional needs.
- Apply knowledge of all relevant departmental, organizational, and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
- Perform tasks at an accuracy level consistent with department expectations.
- Access patient information via the system network.
- Train in the storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous drugs in accordance with regulatory agency standards.
- Ensure needed stock is obtained in emergencies.
- Respond promptly to drug information requests using available references.
- Accurately identify and prioritize clinical issues to address the most critical matters first.
- Utilize appropriate communication methods for problem resolution; ensure timely resolution.
- Document all interventions per department standards.
- Participate in clinical initiatives as defined by the department.
- Direct the work of pharmacy technicians to ensure adequate staffing.
- Remain current in the field by proactively reading medical and pharmacy literature.
- Perform patient education and counseling (apothecary only), including assessment of patient comprehension.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy.
- Licensure as a Pharmacist in New York State.
- Strong analytical, computer, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of pharmacy practice experience in a hospital setting.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
Pay
Listed base pay range: $120,640.00 – $166,400.00. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
