ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely reviews and dispenses medications for the pediatric population in accordance with professional standards.
- Accurately prepares medications and administers them to patients.
- Responds to drug information inquiries from other healthcare professionals.
- Oversight and supervision of duties performed by pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
- Must possess a Virginia Pharmacy License or be eligible for licensure within four months of hire.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a graduate of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy.
- Must have interpersonal skills to communicate and gain cooperation with hospital administration, staff, patients, and guests regarding drug therapy.
- Must have analytical skills to ensure medications are prepared according to professional standards.
- Must possess critical thinking skills to consult and advise physicians and patients on medication use and side effects.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be in good standing with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy and maintain continuing education requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and the like.
