Clinical Pharmacist, Acute Care Pharmacy, Internal Medicine and Transitions of Care

Position Highlights

The Adult Acute Care Pharmacist provides patient-centered care to patients for adult acute care patients. This position must:

• provide pharmaceutical care to patients to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes;
• promote cost-effective drug therapy;
• provide assistance in educating pharmacy students, PGY1 and PGY2 residents;
• participate in research projects to improve patient outcomes;
• participate on Medical Center and Department committees;
• adhere to the general hospital standards to promote cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building;
• assist with verification of medication orders and distribution of pharmaceutical products;
• coordinate and participate in the education of pharmacist and other health care professionals in regards to pharmacotherapy;
• initiate and/or participate in medication utilization evaluations;
• participate in the drug therapy management in emergency situations;
• assist in developing and implementing treatment protocols in order to improve patient care.

What You Will Need

• Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is required;
• Current state pharmacist license in good standing through North Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required;
• Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency or equivalent experience is required.

Nice to Have (Not Required)

• Completion of a PGY2 Internal Medicine or Pharmacotherapy residency is preferred;
• Board Certification is preferred;
• Previous mentorship of pharmacy residents is preferred;
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment;
• Possesses strong organizational and leadership skills;
• Takes self-initiative to innovate and collaborate with team members.
