About the role
The Informatics Pharmacy Specialist supports patient care by improving medication use through the use of IT, automation systems, and medication-use processes.
Responsibilities
- Supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members with requests related to pharmacy system changes.
- Maintains system reliability and compliance with regulatory requirements, collaborating with the Clinical Informatics Committee.
- Manages medication safety configurations across the facility.
- Safeguards and optimizes pharmacy applications to ensure accurate medication workflows.
- Manages updates related to medication builds, formulary adjustments, order set builds, medication billing, and other regulatory and clinical changes impacting patient care and safety.
- Collaborates with the Clinical Informatics team to perform critical clinical duties, including managing medication safety configurations and supporting pharmacy applications.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Entry-level pharmacy degree (e.g., B.Sc, Pharm.D) from an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Informatics Certificate Course within 6 months of hire, or an ASHP accredited PGY-1 or PGY-2 residency.
- A Board of Pharmacy Specialty Certification in Pharmacy Informatics (preference given).
- 3 years or more of clinical pharmacy service experience (preference given).
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacy practice, pharmacy automation, clinical information systems, and pharmacy computer systems.
Skills
- Strong understanding of IT and automation systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
