Clinical Patient Access Specialist- Call Center (MA, LPN, EMT Required)

About the role

Reports to the Clinical Patient Access Manager or Patient Access Manager. The Clinical Patient Access Specialist relays reviewed normal, expected, or abnormal results to patients, manages large volumes of inbound calls, and ensures all pertinent medical information and care needs are identified, documented, and communicated to providers. This role is responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other callers.

Requirements

• Active certification or license as an LPN, CMA, RMA, or EMT.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting within the area of certification.

Responsibilities

• Understand and uphold SEP’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA.
• Accurately document patient information in the EMR.
• Provide instructions and results to patients under the direction of providers.
• Communicate with offices regarding patient concerns or issues related to results.
• Schedule appointments based on office scheduling preference cards and/or decision trees.
• Maintain effective working relationships with team members, medical practice staff, and leadership.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Resolve issues with patients, providers, associates, management, and insurance companies.
• Advise patients of outstanding balances and ensure accurate, timely distribution of patient requests.
• Collaborate with the central billing office and physicians/clinicians on requests as needed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
