Provider Assistant - LPN/MA/EMT

About the role

As a provider assistant at HealthPartners Clinic Stillwater, you are responsible for a variety of patient care duties and other related duties in the clinical setting. These include documentation of medical information, administration of medications/vaccinations and treatments, obtaining medical histories, vital signs, and more. The provider assistant assists healthcare providers in the timely delivery of services per physician/RN direction and according to Clinic policies and procedures. All programs and activities support the short- and long-term mission, vision, goals, and objectives of HealthPartners Clinic Stillwater.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and document basic medical history
• Take vital signs and document findings in the patient record
• Review annual wellness questionnaire with appropriate patients
• Administer immunizations
• Monitor messages and relay clinician responses via phone calls
• Enter orders for laboratory services

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with or without certification (AAMA or AMT)
• Current LPN (MN and WI license required)
• Graduate of an accredited EMT program plus current EMT license (national and Minnesota)
• Current CPR certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of medical assistant or LPN experience in a clinic
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions with patients, families, and care team members
• Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in all interactions
• Understanding of patient education needs and ability to share information effectively
• Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
