Provider Assistant - LPN/MA/EMT
About the role
As a provider assistant at HealthPartners Clinic Stillwater, you are responsible for a variety of patient care duties and other related duties in the clinical setting. These include documentation of medical information, administration of medications/vaccinations and treatments, as well as obtaining medical histories and vital signs. The provider assistant assists healthcare providers in the timely delivery of services per physician/RN direction and according to Clinic policies and procedures. All programs and activities support the short- and long-term mission, vision, goals, and objectives of HealthPartners Clinic Stillwater.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Take vital signs and document findings in the patient record
- Review annual wellness questionnaire with appropriate patients
- Administer immunizations
- Monitor messages and relay clinician responses via phone calls
- Enter orders for laboratory services
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program with or without certification (AAMA or AMT)
- Current LPN (MN and WI license required)
- Graduate of an accredited EMT program plus current EMT license (national and Minnesota)
All candidates must have current CPR certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of medical assistant or LPN experience in a clinic
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions with patients, families, and care team members
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in all interactions
- Understanding of patient education needs and ability to effectively share information with patients, family members, and care team members
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
