About the role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) reports to the Maternal Child Services Director at Redlands Community Hospital. This role requires a full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the hospital's mission and the nursing department's goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and clinical expertise within the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) spheres of impact.
- Collaborate with Redlands Community Hospital Leadership and staff to ensure nursing care meets professional literature, standards, and regulations.
- Ensure continuity and quality care through data and performance improvement.
- Serve as a clinical expert, resource, and mentor for staff.
- Focus on patient needs and interact with other departments to support patients and their families.
- Develop and implement orientation programs, didactic presentations, and clinical mentoring for novice to expert practitioners.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of Master’s degree Nursing, Clinical Nurse Specialist program required; Doctorate of Nursing preferred.
- Four years’ experience in acute care nursing with two years in the Neonatal area required.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
- Two years’ experience with program/course design, presentation, and evaluation preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer (Word, Excel, and e-mail functions) required.
Qualifications
- Current California State RN license required.
- Current California State Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Current NRP certification required; instructor certification preferred.
- National Certification in area of expertise (RNC-NIC or CCRN) preferred.
- STABLE certification preferred upon hire; required within 3 months of hire.
