About the role

R2 is a high-paced, acute-care 37-bed medical telemetry unit at Maine Medical Center that specializes in providing exceptional care to a diverse and complex adult medical patient population, with a particular focus on stroke patients. The unit is recognized by the Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and the clinical nursing team is dedicated to delivering high-quality care to these patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and implement care plans for patients based on clinical judgment and evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and families, adapting care to meet their current health states and learning abilities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure clear understanding and adherence to care plans.
  • Identify and respond to changes in patient conditions, initiating appropriate actions as needed.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing.
  • Experience caring for stroke patients and telemetry experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Basic interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Analytical ability to identify patient needs, risks, and interventions.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Pay

The pay for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time night shift opportunity consisting of 3, 12-hour shifts per week.
