Clinical Nurse Educator - Same Day Surgery Center (CLIN NURSE EDUC 3)
Job Summary
Clinical Nurse Educators apply theory and practice in the operating room, independently perform responsibilities, and possess broad knowledge. They design and deliver education, orientation, and training to operating room staff, disseminate information, and assist with nursing research projects.
Responsibilities
Nursing Process and Practice: Apply professional standards and practices to ensure optimal clinician knowledge and skills.
Professional Development: Design and develop curricula, teach individuals, and develop staff competency.
Leadership and Quality: Create instructional content and training for the Operating Room Training Program and other audiences within the Health System.
Nursing Research: Write and review unit policy and procedures, and conduct evidence-based research.
Qualifications
Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
CNOR Certification upon hire
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS)
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Master’s Degree in Nursing
Six (6) years’ of Clinical Operating Room Nurse Experience
Three (3) years’ experience in the Scrub Nurse role
Three (3) years’ experience as a preceptor
Thorough knowledge of a broad spectrum of professional nursing practices and issues
Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation
Basic computer skills including the electronic medical / health record
Effective oral communication skills and ability to present information in various settings
Detail-oriented, with proven organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills to provide education, training, and resources
Thorough knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
Knowledge of AORN “Guidelines for Perioperative Practice”
Skilled with applications such as Epic Op-Time and MS Office software
