Primary Functions/General Purpose
The clinical nurse will facilitate the coordinated care of the Perinatal patients in the Perinatal Center and in the hospital as in-patients. The clinical nurse will assist patients in obtaining efficient and comprehensive clinical and supportive care as needed throughout their pregnancy.
Essential Job Functions
- In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness;
- Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and procedures;
- Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments;
- Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
Employment Qualifications
- Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or awaiting reciprocity.
- Maintain current CPR certification.
Required Qualifications
- BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
- Valid RN Nursing License from the state of practice
- Experience within a physician practice setting
- Work with the Clinical Support Services team
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science, nursing
- 2 years of Labor and Delivery or Antepartum experience
Working Conditions
- Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies regarding infection control.
- Travel outside the office is required.
- Overnight travel on occasion to attend seminars and training.
- Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
- May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
- May have periods of constant interruptions.
