Role Overview
A Clinical Laboratory Technologist performs high-complexity diagnostic testing in biochemical, blood bank, hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis disciplines. They analyze, validate, and report laboratory results critical for accurate medical diagnoses, supporting physicians and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed laboratory testing and utilize Laboratory Information Systems in compliance with regulations.
- Perform quality control, calibrate and maintain complex instrumentation, and participate in proficiency testing.
- Communicate critical test results promptly and collaborate with medical staff and supervisors.
- Assist with specimen collection and processing when needed, ensuring safety and accuracy.
- Mentor and train incoming staff, evaluate new methodologies, and supervise support team members.
Qualifications & Skills
- BS in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technology or related sciences meeting NYSDOH requirements.
- Valid NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technologist license is mandatory.
- Preferred certifications include ASCP or equivalent.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication skills, and proficiency with lab automation and medical software.
